WHY am I using creepy creatures to help
inform about AUTISM? I have several passions in my life. One is to counter this disorder that has afflicted my own son. Through early intervention, family support and agency commitment, he has come along way in this lifelong battle. We walk a mile to see an inch of progress from our son. That is the life we have and the life we must continue to pursue. Another passion is for all the creepy creatures that I share with other hobbyists. Some label this enthusiasm as a neurosis, but it is a passion. Using creepy creatures as a vehicle to have fun with other hobbyists and share this serious information about an epidemic that is sweeping this country. Yes, it is a small group of people that I am targeting, however, my goal is to influence one ear at a time in a enjoyable family environment. |

It may seem insignificant, like all the little creatures, but your
small contribution will help increase awareness while promoting the hobby. By combining both passions, my hope with this introduction is to inspire you to continue enjoying the bug hobby while discovering about ways to help encourage others to be more tolerant to those who are different. Their involvement will help more to recognize the differences of others and treat everyone with respect to promote a better world. What do I hope to accomplish in this campaign? Perhaps, families participating in an autism event or your child writing about autism and reading his or her paper out loud in front of their classmates, or a child growing up to become a teacher in special education. That is my purpose. It is just a dream, but maybe there is a child out there walking around the insect/reptile fair who will become a future scientist and find the cause then create a cure. |
